Zettanet Racing Team heading back to form…
After a torrid start to the season at both Yas Marina and Dubai Autodrome, Zettanet Racing Team (ZRT) were back to Dubai Autodrome on December 13th to contest the 5th and 6th rounds of the National Race Days Class 2 UAETCC. The team were hopeful of a podium or two and achieved just that.
Qualifying resulted in P3 placing with only 0.5 seconds separating the top 3. The team had decided the race would be won or lost on consistency, focus and preserving tyres.
Race 1 – Started well with the team slotting into P2 from lap 1. The mid-point of the race saw a dual between Jonathan and the #57 car of Abdullah where the pair swapped positions lap on lap three times with Abdulla having the edge on the straights and Jonathan handling the corners smoother. ZRT finally came out in front and with a last charge to catch Rupesh Chanake the team were running 0.5-seconds a lap faster than the race leader, the pair being separated by a mere 2-seconds at the line. Close but not close enough.
Race 2 – A similar affair with the team starting in P2. An early challenge from Alex Annivas in his feisty Clio saw the team drop to 3rd. As the race developed the three Honda’s were once again nose to tail through the corners.
The race evolved and ZRT moved from 2nd to 3rd to 1st and eventually back to finish P3 in what was an excellent display of close racing.
Lesson from the day was that the straight line speed of the other Hondas was notably more but the team already has a gearing solution in place to make sure they are more equal in rounds 7 & 8.
Jonathan said:
The car’s handling was excellent during the weekend, it really has become a pleasure to drive whereas last year it was a handful in the corners, we are really looking forward to the next round to show everyone what we can do.
As usual the team would like to extend thanks to their competitors, supporters, Lap 57, Heiki from Deutches Auto Dubai and all the staff from Dubai Autodrome for making racing safe and enjoyable. Even Terry was smiling for us!
Til next time stay posted on ‘Zettanet Racing’ Facebook and Circuit Pro Digital for upcoming ZRT developments. The team is promising something special still to come J
