UAE Touring Car Championship contender Jonathan Mullan’s new look
“Be Creative”
That was the brief given by Dubai based Touring Car driver Jonathan Mullan to renowned designer, Andy Blackmore when the livery of his tired looking Honda race car was in need of a freshen up.
When Andy asked “What type of design do you want for this year’s UAE Touring Car Championship livery ?”
Jonathan explained “We want something modern and unusual which complements our sponsors colours and brands.”
Here’s what Jonathan had to say to CircuitProdigital about the project:
We briefed Andy that we didn’t want something too cluttered as often designers of motorsport livery lose the fabric of the design by over complicating the design elements. We also wanted the car to look fast even when standing still (Not that we are planning to stand still).”
“Andy was very prompt coming back to us, initially with 8 concepts. The first problem we faced was that they were all really good. No surprise really as Andy and his work is renowned in the race world. Whilst Theo Souris (Team Manager) and I both had different ideas as to how the finished car should look, we decided to let Andy develop the option he liked best as we felt this would help inspire him to come up with the most interesting final design. We are starting the 2013-14 UAETCC season with very positive approach. We are delighted to announce that we have three key sponsors on board; Zettanet LLC; EC Harris International Ltd and a very close friend who has an interest in motorsport and to whom we are very grateful.
We spent the summer completely refurbishing the car from a bare shell with Lap 57 workshop who have done an amazing job. We invested in some chassis and equipment improvements which should help us to be more competitive in the coming season. Our next phase of the rebuild is to have suspension professionally set-up by the guy’s at MSW.
“For the final phase of the project came the new livery application and, after a few discussions back and forth with various specialists, we decided to run with Richard of www.foilacar.ae in Dubai. The final decision was based on his company’s experience, high quality standards and an amazingly positive and helpful approach from the outset. The car is currently being re-painted prior to its short trip across town to the Foilacar team to complete the complicated vinyl application. Circuit Pro Digital are also showcased on the car livery and will be delivering our race reports along with digital media for the duration of the season. Exclusive first pictures will shortly be released once the specialist vinyl is applied.”
If anyone wants to be a part of this seasons racing, pop along to any of the scheduled race weekends where you will be welcome to mingle with the teams & drivers and experience the excitement first hand.
